Welcome to Year 2
Year 2 at Meynell is a joyful and purposeful year where children build confidence, strengthen their skills and continue to explore the world around them. It’s a time filled with curiosity, growing independence and exciting opportunities to take their learning further.
Our Year 2 classroom is warm, supportive and full of enthusiasm. Children learn through a rich mix of stories, phonics, practical activities, problem‑solving and creative tasks that help them believe in themselves and the progress they make each day. They are encouraged to work together, share ideas and approach new challenges with a positive mindset.
We celebrate effort, resilience and achievement, helping pupils develop strong learning habits that prepare them for the transition into Key Stage 2. With engaging lessons and meaningful projects across the curriculum, children begin to think more deeply, communicate clearly and take pride in producing their best work.
Year 2 helps every child to aspire, aim high and achieve their personal goals, building the confidence and enthusiasm they need for the exciting learning journey ahead in Year 3.
